About Translate
Translate the text of a PDF or .txt file into one of 12 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, and Chinese. The translation is written by an AI model.
How to use Translate
- Drop a PDF or .txt file onto the sheet.
- Choose the target language in the Into menu.
- Press Run, then read the translation or download it as a .txt file and a PDF.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my document sent anywhere?
- Yes, the text is. Inkwell extracts the text in your browser, then sends it through its server to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, which writes the result. The file itself is not uploaded, but its words are, so do not use this tool for text you cannot share with a third party.
- Is the original layout kept?
- No. You get the translated text only; images, tables, and page layout are not recreated. Only the first 14,000 characters of text, roughly 2,000 words, are read; anything after that is cut off.
- Why does the PDF copy look wrong for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Arabic?
- The PDF copy uses a font that does not cover those scripts. Use the .txt file, which contains the full translation.
