Frequently asked questions
- Is my document sent anywhere?
- Yes, the text is. Inkwell extracts the text in your browser, then sends it through its server to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, which writes the result. The file itself is not uploaded, but its words are, so do not use this tool for text you cannot share with a third party.
- How long a document can it summarize?
- Only the first 14,000 characters of text, roughly 2,000 words, are read; anything after that is cut off. For longer documents, split them and summarize each part.
- Why does it say the file has no extractable text?
- Scanned PDFs are pictures of text. Run OCR PDF first, then summarize the text file it produces.
