About Redact
Draw black boxes over names, account numbers, or whole passages before you share a PDF. The boxes are written into the pages when you download.
How to use Redact
- Open Redact in the studio and drop in the PDF.
- Drag a black box over every line or area you want hidden.
- Press Download to save the redacted copy.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the text under the black box really removed?
- Not by this step alone. The box covers the text visually, but the original text stays in the file and can still be selected, copied, or extracted. For sensitive documents, run the downloaded file through Compress, which turns every page into an image and leaves no text layer behind.
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is read and processed inside your browser tab, and the result is created on your device. It is kept only in your browser's own storage until you remove it.
