About Repair
Re-save a PDF that other apps refuse to open or that throws errors. Inkwell rebuilds the file structure, and if that fails, it redraws each readable page as an image.
How to use Repair
- Drop the damaged PDF onto the sheet.
- Press Run; there are no settings to choose.
- Download the repaired copy and open it in your usual reader.
Frequently asked questions
- What does repair actually do?
- First it re-reads the file and writes a clean copy with a fresh structure. If that fails, it renders every page it can read into an image and builds a new PDF from them, in which case text is no longer selectable.
- Can every PDF be repaired?
- No. If not even the pages can be read, Inkwell tells you the file is too damaged instead of handing back an empty document.
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is read and processed inside your browser tab, and the result is created on your device. It is kept only in your browser's own storage until you remove it.
